Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Preview - Rebooting the Planet of the Apes

>

With the release of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, 1 of Hollywood's most enduring franchisees gets however a different make-more than. Younger audiences feel of Tim Burton's 2001 're-imagination' of the original Planet of the Apes to be the 'first' in the series but to believe that would be a gross injustice to one of the most fascinating concepts ever.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Story

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is about a man who's working on a cure for Alzheimer's illness. Will Rodman (James Franco) performs tests on apes and his tests on one of them, Caesar (Andy Serkis) genetically modifies the chimpanzee's way of thinking, therefore giving way to a new breed that possesses man-like intelligence. Initially impressed, humans try to harness Caesar's new-identified genius but its only a matter of time ahead of the 'lesser' of the two decide to make their own options. Like the film's tagline suggests, the evolution transforms into a revolution with Caesar escaping and thousands of apes joining forces to challenge man.

The 1968 original with Charlton Heston in the lead can be named one of the most audacious concepts to be ever filmed. The tale of a bunch of astronauts who crash on to earth that is taken over by apes, the film is set in the future and has a sub-plot of Heston's Taylor attempting to put the pieces of the jigsaw together. Subjugated by simians Taylor can't figure how the world order ended up the way it did and the last shot of him coming face-to-face with the truth that he didn't want to believe nonetheless has it in it to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up!

Even though it's been a decade since Tim Burton tried to, in his words, 're-imagine' the story, his 2001 film is largely worth remembering for Tim Roth's menacing Common Thade. The film couldn't inspire sequels and it's in this light that Rise of the Planet of the Apes aims to do to this tale what Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins did for the caped crusader. According to director Rupert Wyatt, this film is closest to the Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) as far as elements of the story are deemed but it's not a remake in the accurate sense of the word.

With James Franco and Frieda Pinto in the lead along with heavy-duty names like John Lithgow, Andy Serkis and Brain Cox, Rise of the Planet of the Apes hopes to build a platform on which the franchise could carry on. Searching at the trailer of the film the effects by Perter Jackson's Weta Digital are intriguing and Serkis, the individual behind King Kong and Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is one individual who knows how to infuse life into creatures!

The trailer whets the appetite and even though what's promised is not a sumptuous meal it certain looks like one hell of a snack!
