The Truth Natural Skin Care - What You need to Know!

The Truth Natural Skin Care - What You need to Know!
By Joan Bower

Mankind has for many thousands of years used some kind of skin care regime but it is only in recent times he has had the luxury to choose between natural skin care using herbal products or those devised synthetically by man. This is the reason skin care has transformed in a big way and herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic or chemical based skin care routines. Today probably only a fraction of the herbal formulas still exist and many people have never even used a natural product.

Whilst we can blame large companies for supplying us with skin care products relatively inexpensively, part of the problem has been our own reluctance to do things for ourselves.

Even herbal skin care products have been commercialized and many commercial natural skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home.

Growing numbers of people are going back to the old ways and using herbal products made in small batches by tiny companies that specialize in using the old techniques. The increase of commercially available herbal products is not likely to lose to much ground though to these small independent companies but do you know what sort of products I am referring to?

Almost everyone has heard of aloe vera but did you know is an excellent skin moisturizer and can treat sunburn, cuts and other skin problems? Other household herbs like dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary are good at cleansing but usually when they are in combination with other herbs.

You may not know about the herbal antiseptic qualities of other herbs like lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel and the use of lavender water and rose water have been known to have skin toning properties for a very long time.

A favorite drink with many people around the world, tea can also have extracts made into a formulation that helps treat skin that has received an excess of UV radiation.

Oils prepared from herbal extracts present another means of natural skin care like tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil which are some of the more popular oils used in herbal skin care.

Skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis are often treated with other oils extracted from plants and the likes of banana, melon and apple are very good at hydrating the skin which is why these are the most often used in shower gels for instance.

Although it is not something that is mentioned very often but herbal skin care products rarely have any adverse effects on the user and as you can produce them at home, they are very attractive to people trying to avoid anything synthetic.

So, herbal skin care is the way to go but this does not mean that you totally discard the synthetic products and you should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.

If you want your skin to look for your whole life, you will take care of it irrespective of whether it is with natural or synthetic skin care products.
